A special music maker

Darude was born in Finland July 17. 1975. His birth name is Villie Virtanen. As a child and when he was young, he always had an interest in “odd” music, and in high school he enjoyed making music at his pc tracker program Once. At a party with his classmates, he played a song called Rude Boy. They like it, and he got very popular at his school. They gave him the nickname Rude Boy, or The Rude. After some time, The Rude became Da Rude, which he took as a nom-de-guar, just as Darude.

However, he left high school, but kept on working with music. Music was his life, and he offered it for free to download on MP3.com. His official carrier Started in 1999, when he signed a contract with a recording company, and soon after his single Sandstorm was released. It became a very big hit indeed, at first in Finland, but little by little all over the world. It was sold in two million copies. His debut album Before the storm, which came shortly after, was a big success too. His next single Feel the Beat, followed the success of Sandstorm, sold in nearly the same amount of copies.

In the year 2001, Darude was touring and doing DJ gigs. He continued to work hard, and in 2003 he was nominated at The Golden Turntable DJ Awards in USA for Best single (Sandstorm), as well as best album (Before the Storm), but at this time his second album already was a fact It was released a little later the same year.

In 2004, besides what he usually was doing, he officially started as a DJ. He soon got popular, and he likes this job a lot too.

Since his album Rush was released in 2003, Darude has been well-known in USA, Australia, Scandinavia and Eastern Europe. (Finland and the states of Eastern Europe has a lot in common, and easily change cultural subjects as music, interior designs etc.)Western Europe was a little slow this time, but in 2005 and 2006 they got the clue.

Darude always is in a progress. He is known for a progressive style, and that you can se of his remixes of his own music, and his new job as a DJ. I think, his music is made in an uplifting style, nearly the opposite of many others of the modern artists. For the moment, he is busy as always, and they say he is working for a new album release. I do not know for sure.
